“My midwife was incredible and gave me the wise words I needed to let my body do what it needed to do.”

Towards the end of my pregnancy, we were looked after by our midwife Hayley who I cannot thank enough for her patient, warm manner with myself and my husband.  She took time to make sure that we were as informed as possible about an unexpected change in circumstances to our ‘birth wish’. Even after our little boy arrived, Hayley was amazing with supporting me through the very beginning of Oscar’s life and ensuring that I felt comfortable with what was happening.

When I went in to be checked after my waters broke, I came out of hospital feeling in control and that is thanks to the midwife and doctor who came to help us at the very first stages of labour.

Our birth itself was honestly the most amazing experience. As advised, we managed the next part of labour at home. By the time I arrived at the labour ward, I was all ready to start pushing. As you can imagine this was a bit of a shock being my first baby, but my midwife was incredible and gave me the wise words I needed to let my body do what it needed to do. I also had a lovely student midwife who reassured me the whole way through, and I will never forget her for how much she helped me through my birth.

The care and attention we were given was incredible and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better team during my birth but also during my short time on the postnatal ward before heading home. You would never have known we were in the middle of a pandemic and every member of staff we met made us feel like we had nothing to worry about.
If you are due to have your baby during these uncertain times you have absolutely nothing to worry about, you are in excellent hands.
